Lead in vitro pharmacologist

The Vanderbilt Center for Neuroscience  is searching for a lead in vitro pharmacologist to support ongoing projects within the Center for Neuroscience Drug Discovery and the Vanderbilt Specialized Chemistry Center of the Molecular Libraries Probe Center Networks. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in molecular pharmacology and/or in vitro drug metabolism assay design, experimental procedures including relevant instrumentation experience, and data analysis and reporting.

Key Functions and Expected Performances:

  1. Independent design, performance, and analysis of in vitro assays related to molecular pharmacology and/or in vitro drug metabolism, including pharmacological concentration-response curves and binding assays. Additionally, a working knowledge of kinetic plate reader technology is strongly preferred.
  2. Ability to supervise technical staff to perform relevant assays.
  3. A strong grasp of data analysis and record keeping, including the ability to maintain large datasets for interface with the Molecular Libraries Probe Center Networks reporting procedures, i.e., PubChem.
  4. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to work within a large team environment with scientists representing multiple disciplines.

Basic Requirements:

Candidates should hold a Ph.D. degree and have at least two years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry within a molecular pharmacology or in vitro drug metabolism group. Alternatively, the candidate should have at least five years of experience in an academic setting directly related to molecular pharmacology or in vitro drug metabolism.

Additional information:   This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week. Shift hours are 8:00am - 5:00pm.  Salary is commensurate upon years of education and experience.
